Nursing consultation to informal caregivers: diagnostic tools and interventions
Margarida Sotto Mayor, Carlos Sequeira, Belén García.

SUMMARY

The Nursing Consultation is one of the strategies nurses can use to obtain diagnosis and provide guidance to patient/family: learning of techniques, specific care and referal to other professionals.

The authors present a study based on data collected from Nursing Consultations. Using a transversal approach on a sample of 50 caregivers and following an “ evaluation and intervention protocol with caregivers ”, they found that the consultation is beneficial for health and promotes reciprocal satisfaction during caregiving, for both caregiver and elderly.

KEY WORDS

    Nursing consultation, caregivers, dementia.
